Each time I go to Golden Gardens Park, I wonder why I don’t come more often. It offers a ton of entertainment at no cost. I usually go with my husband in the early evening, an hour or so before sunset. We stroll the walkway along the water to the beach. We always find a bench to sit and enjoy the view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. I took these pics on Labor Day (hazy/pinkish light due to recent fires in the region). The beach was teeming with activity; from kids running around to guys playing volleyball. In addition to the beach, the park offers a large playground for families, several picnic tables for small or large groups (reserve in advance), a pier for anyone interested in fishing and a marina with boats coming and going. You can either bring your own food (grills available) or buy snacks at the concession stand (cash only). Golden Gardens is one of my favorite places to watch sunsets. If you're lucky, you can snag a fire pit on the beach (no reservation needed) and enjoy an evening bonfire with family and friends. You'll see others walking their dogs or sitting at the water's edge. Whatever you do, the setting sun will mesmerize you as it casts it's golden light across the water. The golden hour is breathtaking at Golden Gardens Park.
