Great mix of new and established places to eat, shop and play
Who likes to sweat? Not me, that is, until I discovered City Sweats. My doctor suggested I find a spa that offers infrared sauna treatments to reduce my muscle/joint pain and help me sleep at night. She was right; sweating never felt so good! It releases nasty toxins such as pesticides, heavy metals and city pollutants that accumulate in your body. I've been a regular at City Sweats for almost a year. To me, it's a wellness spa. Although they provide other traditional spa services, like facials and massages, they go a step further by using only organic and natural ingredients. Everything they do revolves around what's best for you. For example, you'll be given a bottle of alkaline water to drink throughout your service. I never realized the health benefits of alkaline water. It's like drinking antioxidants. Very refreshing and hydrating! I love the private, individual infrared sauna cabins (shown above). They also offer a larger cabin for up to three people. They say, "Friends who sweat together, stay together." Not sure if I'm ready to share my sweat with anyone! To enhance your experience, each cabin is equipped with a media center. You can watch your favorite show on Netflix or listen to relaxing tunes on Pandora. At the end of your 45-minute session, you'll have a chance to take a shower before enjoying complimentary refreshments in the relaxation lounge. My favorite part is running my toes through the cool white sand. It feels amazing! If you want to take a little bit of City Sweats home with you, they offer organic apothecary beauty products, body scrubs, detox salts and more. Hand picked and crafted with the purest ingredients; they are made with heart and soul just for you.

I’ve only been to Westward a couple of times, but it’s definitely becoming a favorite spot of mine for food and drinks. Why? Several reasons: 1) local and organic focus, 2) small and large plates, 3) impeccable service, 4) lively atmosphere and 5) amazing views of Lake Union and downtown. My only downside: It’s a little pricey for my budget, so can’t go very often, unless it’s just for cocktails, appetizers and the view!
