Fun, lively and historic neighborhood just northwest of downtown Seattle
A few months ago, friends introduced me to Cocina Esperanza, a quaint, family-owned Latin American/Mexican restaurant located at the northern edge of Ballard. My daughter, Sara, and I could eat Mexican food every night. We’ve never been disappointed at Esperanza. The food is fresh and the atmosphere is authentic and lively. Tonight I had their special (pictured): sliced pork tenderloin with grilled onions, tomatoes, broccoli, black beans and rice ($16.95). The red sauce had great flavor and just enough heat to satisfy me. A glass of red wine Sangria ($4.25) complimented the dish. Sara had her favorite fish tacos (3 for $13.50).
If you are looking for a casual, neighborhood restaurant with excellent food, and a friendly wait staff, we recommend Cocina Esperanza at 3127 NW 85th St. in Seattle. 206-783-7020. Open for dinner, Tuesday - Saturday. No reservations needed.
